Where is Alpine Accounts based?
Alpine Accounts works out of Toogoom, just north west of Hervey Bay on the Fraser Coast in Queensland. We meet Fraser Coast clients in person and work with everyone else remotely.
Do you only take on clients in Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast?
No. Local businesses across Hervey Bay, Toogoom, Burrum Heads, Torquay, Pialba, Urangan and Maryborough are a big part of the practice, but the work is cloud based, so we look after businesses anywhere in Australia.
Which accounting software do you work with?
Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online, Reckon, Sage, Zoho Books, Saasu, Wave, Hubdoc and Dext. Laurence works inside whichever system you already run rather than making you switch. Xero is what we recommend if you are starting fresh, and we handle the full migration if you do want to move.
Are you a bookkeeper or an accountant?
Both, plus a business adviser. Laurence is an accountant with more than 50 years on Australian business books, and he does the day to day bookkeeping as well as the month end accounts, reporting and the strategic conversations about pricing, cash flow and structure. One person instead of three, and a registered tax agent brought in when lodgement is needed.
Can you lodge my BAS or tax return?
Not directly. Laurence is an accountant, not a registered tax agent, and in Australia only a Tax Practitioners Board registered agent can lodge for a fee. When you need lodgement we bring in a registered tax agent and work alongside them, so it is handled without you having to go and find one. Because your books are already clean, their part is faster and usually cheaper.
What happens in the free consultation?

What size businesses do you work with?
Mostly sole traders and small to medium businesses that have outgrown doing the books themselves but are not big enough for a finance team. If you are spending your weekends on reconciliations, that is the point we are useful.
How experienced is Alpine Accounts?
Laurence Ward has spent more than 50 years working on accounts and books for Australian businesses, is a Swinburne graduate, and has run his own businesses for over 20 years. Alpine Accounts also has in house legal access for contract and structure questions.
